The following piece has been translated from Brazilian Portuguese, so grammatically it leaves things to be desired. Being continued later on.

 

SPIRIT WORK IN MOLTEN PARAFIN WAX

The wax is melted and the Spirit World places what ever part of the anatomy, or object, they need to reproduce into the hot wax a few times letting it harden each time; exactly like they do in candle factories. At the end of the seance a wax model is found. The wax mould is then filled with plaster making sure there are no air bubbles. This is done by vibrating the mould and contents and then allowed to harden. Next the wax is melted and a prefect reproduction of the form that was placed into the hot wax is then seen. If done correctly, all the markings of the object are produced in their finest, minute detail.

WORK IN PARAFFIN WAX OBTAINED IN DIFFERENT SEANCE SESSIONS.

We ask you to pay particular attention to the moulds and casts, especially for the hands: the 1st, from left to right, presents his fingers that are closed over, the 2nd, which is a perfectly admirable, has the wrist very narrow and the image is sharp, the 3rd, is as though it is holding something between the thumb and forefinger. Indeed, this latter model, which was obtained in one of the sessions in April, was holding between its fingers, a flower.  Can you see that would in any case, be impossible to remove the waxen produced image, without breaking the hand of paraffin wax if that hand was of a person on the earth plane and made of flesh. of Rua Conselheiro Joao Alfredo, one of the most popular of Bethlehem.

Photographed after few days it had been on display to the public, this wax model, which, like others, was hollow, was later cast in plaster to show the form inside. This operation was done in the same establishment [ above ]"The Brazilian", and operator Dr. Nilo Pena and others who were there by chance.

MODEL IN PLASTER

Because it was produced by a group of professional people, it is one of the most perfect models obtained. It distinguishes itself perfectly well the whole fabric of the epidermis [ skin ]. This work was originally produced by a Spirit in the seance out of paraffin wax , which strongly impressed Dr. Nilo Pena, and led him to attend some seances of Mrs. Prado, which, made a very strong impression on him.

Notice the detail of the veins and skin shown. Also take note of the heel, toes and narrow part of the ankle.

If a human tried to extract their foot from the wax mould; the mould would have been damaged.

Dr. Nilo Pena, tied a piece of paper signed by him, among the buckets used in the work of paraffin and previously described. The experiment was a complete success. The waxen glove had obtained the finger jewelry as well, keeping the role perfectly. But when being cast the plaster dissolved some of the the paraffin glove, [ probably because of the rush and the time factor; or Spirit did not dip their hand into the wax enough times to make it strong.] the new model is shown as it appears in the photograph. It was intended to repeat this experience, made on January 31, 1921, in the presence of Hon. Sr. Dr. Lauro Sodre. Mr. Lauro Sodre. Entretanto, tendo S. However, with S. Ex-board on February 3 in the morning, we could not do it for sheer lack of time benefactor of ex-governor of Para.

Left is the wax model manufactured by the Spirit of "John" on the night of March 31, 1921, next to it on the right is the positive plaster cast model.

I see this an example of a badly, amateurish produced plaster cast model and what can happen when things go wrong with the casting from a fragile paraffin wax mould.

Notice that the air has not been expelled fully from the mould and has left an air pocket on the back of the hand of the plaster model. This is were the consistency of the plaster and the vibration to get rid of the air out of the plaster going into the waxen mould in the process is so crucial.

I would suggest if anyone tries and succeeds in this process of phenomena, to try and dip the waxen mould again a few more times into the bath of molten wax only allowing the wax to touch the OUTSIDE. This is after the seance has finished and the original one has hardened FULLY this is to add strength to it.

 

Importantly IT SHOULD BE DONE carefully; NOT LETTING ANY WAX TO GO INTO THE INSIDE AND RUINING THE IMAGE .

This is before pouring the plaster into the mould and vibrating it. I would also advise practicing making the correct consistency of the plaster and using the bought rubber model moulds. DO NOT USE YOUR OWN HANDS OR FEET IN THE WAX BATH. IT WILL BURN YOU.

This report is a copy (33), with a few modifications in another given by "a Spirit friend", in Le Havre in 1862, and published n ' "The Gospel According to Spiritism, Allan Kardec, under the title" The Patience.

(33) This fact is reminiscent of the same phenomenon observed by Stainton Moses, and he narrated in his precious book Spirit Teachings .
